Father Daughter Bonding

Back in February, I bought tickets to the ACDC concert in September.  I already knew Martin would be out of town (his annual trip to Norway) but I was positive I could find someone to go with me.  I found the perfect person… my dad!

Randomly one night over dinner with the rents, I mentioned I had the tickets and didn’t have anyone to go with, and before my brain knew what it was doing or my heart knew how perfect it would be, I invited my dad to join!  It was going to be a father daughter outing like old times, although this time around it would involve a 30 year old rock band from Australia.

We met up outside Momo’s and grabbed our seats just before the opening act went on.  Thankfully the tickets bought online through a reseller were good, and yes I was slightly worried.

Dad and I caught up on life during the opening act and we both planned out our bathroom strategies for the break to ensure we didn’t miss anything once the band went on (yes, I am definitely my father’s daughter).  And then the lights went down, the speakers were turned up and we rocked out for two solid hours to our favorite songs.  By the second song, my ears were ringing and I couldn’t talk or hear, but that was okay because my dad was in the same boat.

And to top off the experience, I couldn’t stop smiling.  It was a perfect night including the guy rocking out in front of us, both my dad and I taking photos with our phones (my iPhone and his flip phone, yes flip phone), the mother-son pair next to us up from Monterey and just having fun night out with my dad, the man who got me through my awkward teen years, supported me through college and has always encouraged me to be myself.  The night will go down in my books as the best concert I have ever been to and one of the best date nights I have had in my life.

Thanks Dad!
