Summer Camp at the Lake

This Fourth of July at the Lake, with four nights and five days of fun, can be summed up as a little boy’s dream!

With plans to take off the whole week to celebrate the fourth of July I invited a few mom friends and families to come up anytime while we were there.  Amber, her son Jack and their dog Mya were the only ones adventurous enough to join (my all-too-realistic description might have dissuaded some people)!   Even more adventurous, Amber’s husband Todd was out of town so she came up alone on Wednesday morning and planned to stay until they, or more specifically Mya, outstayed their welcome.

We met up in Ukiah, both husbandless (Martin had decided to ride his bike up to the cabin) and we caravanned in the rest of the way.  As a side note, I realize the week doesn’t start on Wednesday… work issues caused us to postpone the trip up until then.  However, once there the fun didn’t stop until Amber left that Saturday… after Mya outstayed her welcome by tearing down my parent’s tepee.

The days and nights were packed with camping, boating, tubing, bike riding, horseback riding, tractor driving, s’more eating, canoeing, kayaking, running in sprinklers, popsicles, swimming and splashing and terrorizing the locals.

And there was plenty more fun to be had, had we not run out of time... hopefully Amber and family will join us again next year so we can also try out some fishing, waterskiing, hiking, horseshoes and off-roading!
