Our Little Sea Turtle

Our goal before Oskar was born was to introduce him to water early and often so he would not be afraid of the ocean, lake, etc. After the week in Cape Cod and subsequent heat wave in San Francisco, I think we have succeeded. And in the process, Oskar has proven to be a cute little sea turtle: instinctively drawn to any large body of water.

Over the past week and a half, Oskar has shown a true love for playing in the sand (burying his toes, legs and body into the sand, throwing it into the air, and eating it unintentionally but without issue) and his even bigger love for the water.  No matter where we were or how far out the tide was, Oskar would instinctively know what direction the water was and would immediately start crawling towards it like a new baby sea turtle making his way home.  It didn’t even matter how cold it was outside (raining and windy on a few occasions in the Cape) or how cold the water was (he loves San Francisco Bay) if there was water nearby, he was heading for it.

Even when it was time for a break, Oskar was only truly happy when sitting in the water. He was even happy sitting in a pool of water at the house when we weren’t able to make it to the beach.

We are going to have our hands full once he starts walking… time to get him officially swimming ASAP!

Windy, sandy, and cold.  It does't matter
