Lago Grey to Paine Grande

The only information we had about our first leg of the hike was it was expected to take 3.5 hours.  30 minutes into the hike we finally found what I had been unable to locate anywhere on the internet  - a distance and elevation map for our daily hike.   These placards became my lifeline!

Our hike took us from the glacier up, along the lake we had travelled down the previous day and then over the mountain into the next valley and lake.  Here is the pictorial play by play.

Off we go!  No turning back

Up the hillside along the lake

At the top!

Even a little rain can't stop us...

Down the other side of the mountain to the next valley
Still smiling...
And still having fun

Topics discussed along the way included my previous day’s meltdown, previous hiking trips and my desire to become a birder upon retirement (thanks to the Condo sighting the previous day).

Once at Refugio Paine Grande (our home for the night) and after our showers and lunch, Martin got restless and went out for another 2 hour “stroll”.  I stayed behind and read.

Martin's second hike of the day...along Lago Pehoe
Dinner was the same large portions as the previous night and once again we were in bed early for another full day of hiking.
